I looked up at the giant twenty foot tall flat black and white nearly naked  beautiful people staring down at me.  Was I jealous? Why was I looking?  Was it their lack of modesty and overt obvious sexual pleasure, right there, right above me on Canal Street?
No, actually I felt more offended for this intimacy exploited.
It was then I realized they weren’t there for me, no, they were there for others; for the people that would covet their image and buy their underwear.
Now I am older and ok with the fact that lots of things are not for me, not made for me, created for me, nor meant for me.  Not religion, not Hollywood, not politics and not advertising.  I just need to remember not to be offended.
I look back and I laugh.

Project Description

Left Behind Or My Wife Is Made Of Salt

is a project by vydavy sindikat through which we seek our own opportunities for change.

In creating this work we are inspired by three quotes:

"At some point films have to stop being films, being stories, and have to begin to come alive, so that people will ask themselves: What about me and my life?"

Rainer Werner Fassbinder

" It is a progressivism in which it is no longer a matter of leaving in order to get there safe and sound any more so much as of getting out in order to clear the terrain for future 'twilight of places'."

Paul Virilio

"But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."

Genesis 19:26

We invite you to share your story that relates to the above concept on different levels.

Through the course of the project cout outs reminicent of the shape of the human body will be left in various locations. A QR Code will be attached to each cut out. The code will lead to your story.
